Maggie’s Childbirth Celebration Story

by System on Jun 1, 2019, 05:00 AM

maggie-storyMaggie Gray and her husband, Shannon, welcomed their beautiful son, Charles Langston Gray, into the world on August 22, 2018 at 11:37 p.m. Langston was a healthy baby boy weighing 7 pounds and 20 inches long.

Having been a breech baby herself, Maggie knew there was a risk of complications for any expectant mother, so when she learned she had gestational diabetes, she leaned on her on her obstetrician, Kara Conti, MD of Shelby Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as her stepmother, a registered nurse in Women’s Services at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, for their support.

maggie-storyMaggie and Shannon, local Alabaster residents, were surrounded by family and friends at Shelby Baptist Medical Center when they welcomed their first-born child. Baby Langston was born with a beautiful head full of black hair, which Shannon is quick to point out came directly from him. Maggie, a blonde, agrees.

“This is the first grandbaby on my side and the fourth on my husband’s side,” said Maggie. “We are blessed to have so many people celebrate his arrival.”

And speaking of celebrating, Langston was among the first newborns to be honored with Shelby Baptist Medical Center’s Birth Day Box. This colorful special delivery box includes everything needed to celebrate baby’s official welcome, including party hats and bubble gum cigars; a cake from Pelham bakery, Cake Art; colorful plates and napkins; and even a “Shelby Baby” imprinted onesie as a gift for baby.

And, if you’re as lucky as Langston, the delivery might be accompanied by a happy birthday serenade courtesy of the Shelby medical staff!
