Chaplain Brenda Durham Named November "I Make A Difference" Award Winner

Brenda DurhamBrenda Durham, Brookwood Baptist chaplain, is this month’s “I Make A Difference” Award winner. Taken from Brenda’s nomination, “Brenda Durham, staff chaplain, had been providing pastoral care to a prisoner who is terminally ill. During one of her daily visits with him, she learned that he had a birthday coming up. Brenda decided to plan a small celebration to honor his birthday with cake balloons and including the bedside staff and the Palliative Care team.

When Brenda and the staff entered his room with his birthday cake and greetings, the patient lit up with a huge smile followed by tears as he was so moved by this special care for him. He said “this is the best day of my life.” This was the first celebration of his birthday in many years, and, because of his illness, it may also be his last. Brenda’s ministry to this patient with respect, compassion and dignity embodies BBH’s value of service. Brenda’s compassionate care for this patient has touched every person who has observed her care.”

Thank you Brenda for Making a Difference!
